Arda
The village of Arda is proud to be the native place of the eminent Bulgarian singer Valia Balkanska.
Location:
The village of Arda is located in southern Bulgaria in Smolyan municipality. The village is situated in a small but picturesque valley 900-1000 m altitude. The population without the surrounding neighbourhood is 500 both Christians and Bulgarian-Mohammedans being on very good terms with each other.
History:
The legend says that in the deep past the place was a holiday resort only for the rich and eminent people from the White Sea Coast. Two very inportant roads passed through this land to White Sea.There has been an active custom-house until 1942.
Places of interest:
There is a primary school with 50 pupils, a kindergarten, a medical center, a carpentry, a tailor's shop and regular bus transport to the town of Smolyan.
The village tourism has been developed for the past several years. There are trained mountain guides and beaten trucks as wall as incredibly beautiful nature and a lot of springs, streams and rivers.
The area is good for skiing, riding horses, hunting and fishing.
